Words you type stay in your browser

The word search generator builds your puzzle and its PDFs inside your web browser. The words and title you type are not sent to us, not stored on any server and not saved by this site in your browser. When you leave the page, we keep nothing.

What we collect

• No accounts, sign-ups or email lists.
• Analytics on our puzzle, information and policy pages, described below. The word search generator loads no analytics.
• No advertising or tracking pixels.
• Apart from the two analytics scripts, fonts, images and PDFs are served from our own site. Our host may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check for abuse.

Analytics

To learn which pages and puzzles are useful, every page except the word search generator loads two analytics services. The first, served from imgpop.online, counts page visits without cookies and without saving anything in your browser.

The second is Google Analytics. It sets cookies (such as _ga) to recognise a returning browser, and Google receives information such as the page you visit, the page that sent you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. We see only totals, not who you are. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or install Google’s opt-out add-on from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives technical information when your browser requests a page or PDF, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Cloudflare may keep this information to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse, under its own privacy policy. We don’t use it to identify you or to build a profile of you.

Email and contact

If you email us at [email protected], your message passes through Cloudflare’s email forwarding to our inbox, and we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply and to act on what you tell us, and we don’t add you to any mailing list. Ask us and we will delete your messages from our inbox. You can also reach us through the contact page.

Links to other sites

Theme pages have Pinterest and Facebook share buttons. They are plain links: nothing is sent to Pinterest or Facebook unless you click one, and if you do, that site opens in a new window or app and its own privacy policy applies. “Copy link” and “Send link” use your own device and send nothing to us.

Children’s privacy

Our puzzles are made for children ages 6–9, and the site is designed for the parents and teachers who choose and print them. We don’t ask children for any personal information. Children should ask a parent or teacher to email us for them. If we learn that a child under 13 has emailed us, we will delete the message and won’t reply to the child directly.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the site handles information, for example by changing analytics services or adding advertising, we will update this policy before the change goes live and change the date at the top of this page.
